Given that there was a monsoon in New York today, I hauled a gazillion pounds of dirty clothes to the laundromat. Of course on a day like this the place was packed. Nowhere to sit, hardly anywhere to stand, and a fight for the next open dryer.

While the clothes were finishing up I made a friend with a little girl who was probably 4 years old. She was playing with a couple of pennies and started putting them in my jacket pocket. This led to a few games of “pick which hand” while her mother silently folded a mountain of laundry.

My dryer finished so I told her I had to get my clothes. I grabbed my laundry bag and she followed me. As I started throwing towels into the mesh bag, she leaned in with her little hands and grabbed a few socks and started helping. I kept thanking her and telling her to be careful since the clothes were still hot. As I started struggling with bed sheets she quickly switched from picking up clothes to holding my laundry bag open for me all while wearing a huge smile on her face.

I don’t remember the last time I had a washer/dryer in my apartment (sophomore year of college) so I’ve been doing the ‘single girl at the laundromat’ bit for quite some time now and no one has ever held the laundry bag open for me.

Puppies and kittens can’t do that. Boyfriends and children can.

Because I'm not getting out again today in this mess.

A documentary I worked on at the U of A premieres tonight on AETN. I’m sooo excited; this was such a fun project to take on… I was able to interview so many interesting people, and Coach McDonnell’s story is incredibly inspiring.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Forty national track and field championships — it’s a record number of wins for any collegiate coach and one that probably will never be bested. In The Greatest Coach — Ever!, Larry Foley and Jim Borden trace the life and rise of John McDonnell, from a boy on a farm in Ireland to the head track coach at the University of Arkansas. AETN will premiere the documentary at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, during live studio pledging. The film will be shown again at 6:30 p.m. March 12, 11:30 p.m. March 18 and 4:30 a.m. March 21.

Really wish I able to watch this here in New York… maybe someday it will be online or someone can send it to me.

I just removed the Standard Service from my cable bill. No more ESPN, Bravo, or *gasp* SyFy. Now I’m down to the basics, but as long there is FoodNetwork, I’ll be ok.

I have actually been mentally debating this. My iBook is only used for internet browsing, iPhoto and iTunes. If I paid the extra for the 3G connection on the iPad and canceled my internet connection and possibly my entire cable bill, the device would pay for itself in a very short amount of time.

Am I missing something?
